Thai Prime Minister Petunthan said the Thai economy needs stimulus and she is ready to adjust the digital wallet plan worth hundreds of billions of baht to help people as soon as possible.
Reuters reported that Petunthan said on Friday (August 23) that she plans to make adjustments to the "digital wallet" plan, the signature project of the Pheu Thai Party government. After completing the formation of the cabinet, she must resubmit the policy to the parliament.
She showed that Thailand's economy does need stimulus. "If we just wait for the whole process without making any adjustments, people will suffer for a longer time."
Petunthan officially took office as prime minister last week, and how to promote the development of Thailand's economy is one of her urgent challenges. According to the plan of former Prime Minister Sattha, Thailand will launch this digital wallet plan covering about 50 million Thais in the fourth quarter of this year. Each person will receive a credit of 10,000 baht through a smartphone application within six months for local consumption.
